⋆⋆⋆⋆ OK TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE WORKSHOP ⋆⋆⋆⋆
Ever wonder how other zoukers do cool moves that use hair for styling? Looking for moves that can help you play with the music and help accent "the 1" with a flourish? Looking to dip your toe into the world of zouk head movement, or improve your head movement technique? This workshop is for you! In classic AmoZouk fashion, we will deep dive into the leading and following techniques of frame, stretch, delay, and the footwork of chicote (hair "whip") variations, as well as cambres (dips). In this 2-hour intermediate-level workshop you will learn:
Followers: hair movement technique to flip or flow your hair with grace (and not end up like Cousin It...)
Leading/following chicote clearly and safely (appropriate force application & direction, neck safety, etc)
Using a chicote as an accent to your regular basic step (on "the 1!")
Sideways chicote & tilted traveling turn technique
Drills to maintain our footwork while dissociating head movement (followers, if you can master this, this will be a HUGE help to all your future head movement!)
The difference between "chicote" (whip) and "cambre" (dip)
Heavy emphasis will be placed on the side chicote (as that is typically the more challenging variation, and some of you already are familiar with "regular" chicote).
WORKSHOP PREREQUISITES: Students must meet AmoZouk's Level 2 class prerequisites (listed here with GIFs: https://amozouk.com/beyond-foundations-prerecs), or have instructor permission from an AmoZouk instructor. Students must be comfortable leading/following viradinha, lateral to lunge, bonus, yo-yo and soltinho. Previous exposure to head movement helpful, but not required
